The Philosophy
š³š± Origin & early career
Anke ter Beek is originally from the Netherlands, where she trained as a professional dressage rider and completed a berider (professional rider) education with a dressage specialization. She worked at top Dutch sport stables early in her career, including Dressuurstal van Baalen, where she rode young stallions and competed at high level.
At that time, she was actively competing internationally, including riding in young horse World Championships in Verden with horses like Riant.
š©š° Move to Denmark & international work
She later moved to Denmark and worked at major breeding and sport operations such as York Stutteri (York Stud), where she rode stallions and competed at Grand Prix level.
During this period, she competed successfully on horses such as:
Kaiser Wilhelm
Various young stallions in Danish breeding programs
She was part of the international dressage circuit and competed in both national Danish championships and CDI-level shows.
š Competitive level & riding style
She reached:
International Grand Prix level dressage
FEI-level small tour and young horse classes
National and international competition experience in both Netherlands and Denmark
Her riding style has consistently been described as classically trained, structured, and detail-focused, with strong technical education from the Dutch system.
š Shift away from competition
Around the 2010s, she gradually stepped back from full-time competition riding.
Instead, she shifted focus toward:
Horse training from home
Coaching riders
Developing young horses in a less competition-heavy system
Teaching variation-based training systems
She has explicitly said she prefers training that prioritizes time, trust, and variation rather than constant competition pressure.
š Coaching & philosophy today
Today she works mainly as:
Dressage trainer
Riding coach
Online educator
Clinic instructor
Her system combines:
Classical dressage foundations
Rider mindset coaching
Groundwork and varied training (not just arena work)
Focus on long-term horse development over competition output
š Current base & work
She is now based in Denmark, working independently through:
Her own training platform (ATB Online / personal coaching brand)
Private lessons and clinics
Online education and rider development programs
