Robert Schmerglatt

Robert Harrisson Schmerglatt is an Australian Grand Prix dressage rider, international trainer, coach, and clinician. Born in the United States and raised in Australia, he has spent many years training and competing in Germany before returning to Australia. He is recognized for producing horses from young horse level through Grand Prix and for his systematic, horse-centered coaching methods.

Biography

Robert moved from the United States to Australia at the age of four and grew up in a dressage family. He trained extensively with his mother, Linda Schmerglatt, before furthering his career in Germany, where he trained with Jonny Hilberath, Germany's long-time national dressage coach.

During his years in Germany he operated a training business near Munich and competed successfully at Grand Prix level before relocating back to Australia. His sister, Melanie Campbell-Schmerglatt, also trained with him during her time in Germany.
